Atlassian Data Center is being retired — new sales ended March 30, 2026

Who is affected

All organizations self-hosting the affected Atlassian Data Center products (Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, Crowd) and their Marketplace apps. Bitbucket Data Center and Bamboo Data Center are not affected.

Admin roles to involve: Atlassian admin, Infrastructure admin, Procurement/licensing owner

What administrators should do

Plan the move off Data Center: new customers can no longer purchase subscriptions (since March 30, 2026), existing customers can buy new subscriptions or expand licenses only until March 30, 2028, and on March 28, 2029 Data Center subscriptions expire and products become read-only. Existing subscriptions can still be renewed, but no renewal runs past March 28, 2029. Affected: Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, and Crowd Data Center, and their Marketplace apps. Bitbucket Data Center and Bamboo Data Center are not part of the end of life: Atlassian says both continue beyond 2029, and existing customers get a Bitbucket Hybrid License covering Bitbucket Data Center, Bamboo Data Center, and Bitbucket Cloud. Jira Align Data Center is not included either. Evaluate Atlassian Cloud migration timelines, app parity, and compliance requirements now.

What happens if this is ignored

After March 30, 2028 licenses cannot be expanded, and on March 28, 2029 the affected Data Center products become read-only — an unplanned, forced migration under deadline.
