Gmail enforces authentication requirements for bulk senders
From February 1, 2024, senders of over 5,000 messages a day to Gmail must pass SPF, DKIM, and DMARC and keep spam low, or mail is rejected.

Who is affected
Any organization or third-party service that sends more than ~5,000 messages per day to Gmail (marketing platforms, ticketing, CRMs, notification systems).
Admin roles to involve: Google Workspace super admin, Email/DNS admin, Security admin
What administrators should do
For every domain that sends bulk email to Gmail: publish SPF and DKIM, add a DMARC record with domain alignment, ensure valid forward/reverse DNS (PTR), send over TLS, support one-click unsubscribe for marketing mail, and keep the Postmaster Tools spam rate under 0.30%. Enforcement escalated through 2024 and again from November 2025, moving from throttling to temporary and permanent rejections.
What happens if this is ignored
Non-compliant bulk mail to Gmail is throttled and then rejected, so newsletters, notifications, and transactional email fail to deliver.
