Users of consumer Skype (free and paid), including staff who use it for external or personal-account communication. Skype for Business is unaffected.

What administrators should do
Tell users who rely on consumer Skype to sign in to free Microsoft Teams with their Skype credentials (contacts and chat history carry over) or export their Skype data. This affects free and paid consumer Skype; it does not affect Skype for Business. Announced on the Microsoft 365 Blog on February 28, 2025.
What happens if this is ignored
Consumer Skype no longer works after May 5, 2025; unmigrated contacts, chat history, and credits become inaccessible once data is removed.
