Who is affected
All organizations running Windows 10 (Home, Pro, Enterprise, Education, IoT Enterprise) on managed devices. LTSC releases follow their own lifecycles.
Admin roles to involve: Endpoint/desktop admin, Intune admin, Security admin
What administrators should do
Upgrade eligible devices to Windows 11 and inventory devices that cannot be upgraded. For devices that must stay on Windows 10 past October 14, 2025, enroll them in the paid Extended Security Updates (ESU) program to keep receiving critical and important security updates. Version 22H2 was the final Windows 10 feature update.
What happens if this is ignored
Windows 10 devices keep running but receive no security updates after October 14, 2025 (outside ESU), leaving them increasingly exposed to unpatched vulnerabilities.
